Coding Courses for Y2 – Y7 Students

CODING FUNDAMETALS, BEGINNERS

The Coding Fundamentals, Beginners course consists of four levels and 25 projects, which students develop throughout the course. The main goal of the course is to ensure students understand programming fundamentals and are able to apply their coding skills and knowledge by confidently creating software projects including a famous Breakout game, developed by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Slither.io, created by Steve Howse. Using block-based coding in Scratch (MIT) students will be introduced to the main computer science concepts & coding terminology such as loops, conditionals and variables. Students will be closely guided through creation, but will be able to individually personalise their projects adding more features and functionality.

Time: Every Saturday, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Duration: 9 weeks, from 3 February till 7 April
Fee: $198 per student per term (GST inclusive). Late enrolments are accepted with a pro rata payment
Level: Y2 – Y6 continuing students and digitally savvy beginners

CODING FUNDAMETALS, INTERMEDIATE

The Coding Fundamentals, Intermediate course consists of four levels and 25 sophisticated software projects, which students develop using block-based programming environment Scratch (MIT). During this course students will learn and apply more complex computer science concepts such as booleans, recursive algorithms and lists. Students will also be introduced to the basics of Artificial Intelligence (AI), user interface design and user input validation. Students will both be guided through the creation of projects such as Two-Player and Quiz games and will be given an opportunity to define and develop their own projects independently with a minimal guidance. The benefit of this project based curriculum is that students at the end of this stage are able to accomplish a number of original projects themselves, hence they understand the subject matter more deeply.
