Term 1, 2024. 2 Feb - 12 April
By the end of the Beginner online coding course, students should have a solid understanding of the following coding concepts: loops, conditionals and variables, and be able to code simple software projects by themselves. All students will undergo a formal assessment and parents will receive individual reports outlining the achievements and progress of their child.
Join our Scratch Intermediate online coding courses for kids. The Intermediate course consists of four levels (10 lessons per level) and 20 sophisticated software projects, which students develop using block-based coding in Scratch developed by MIT Media Lab. Students create their own versions of Geometry Dash, Pacman, Space Invaders, Asteroids, code an analogue clock, quiz games and interactive drawing apps. Students learn and apply computer science concepts such as functions, nested loops, recursive algorithms, booleans and lists. Students also learn the basics of User Interface design and data validation. Students use an online programming environment with endless access to online study materials, allowing them to advance their coding skills outside their virtual classroom.
By the end of the Intermediate online coding course students should be confident with creating sophisticated projects in Scratch independently. They should have a sound knowledge of key computer science concepts such as loops, conditionals, variables, lists, booleans and functions. This course will prepare students for our text-based coding courses – Intro to Java and Intro to Python. All students will undergo a formal assessment and parents will receive individual reports outlining the achievements and progress of their child.
Join our Intro to Java online coding courses for kids. The Intro to Java course consists of four levels (10 lessons per level) and 27 software projects. Students learn the basics of text-based coding using Processing, a simplified version of Java. Students develop a variety of 2D and 3D digital art, animations, apps and games, such as Snake and Catch. This course covers the key computer science concepts such as functions, loops, if statements, variables, lists, booleans, recursive algorithms; and how they are used in Java. Students use an online programming environment with endless access to online study materials, allowing them to advance their coding skills outside their virtual classroom.
By the end of the Intro to Java online coding course students should become confident with using text-based coding to program simple projects themselves. They should have an extensive knowledge of programming logic and key coding concepts such as functions, loops, if statements, variables, lists, booleans, recursive algorithms. All students will undergo a formal assessment and parents will receive individual reports outlining the achievements and progress of their child.
Join our Intro to Python online coding courses for kids. The Intro to Python course consists of four levels (10 lessons per level) and 20 software projects. Throughout this course students learn the basics of Python, a text-based industry standard language. Students develop a variety of logic based games, encryption algorithms, fractal patterns and mathematically inspired exercises using Trinket, an online programming environment. This course covers the key computer science concepts such as functions, loops, if statements, variables, lists, booleans, recursive algorithms; and how they are used in Python. Students use an online programming environment with endless access to online study materials, allowing them to advance their coding skills outside their virtual classroom.
By the end of the Intro to Python online coding course students should have the ability to write simple programs in Python independently. They should be confident in Python’s syntax, and have a solid understanding of programming logic and key coding concepts such as functions, loops, if statements, variables, lists, booleans, recursive algorithms. All students will undergo a formal assessment and parents will receive individual reports outlining the achievements and progress of their child.
Our online coding courses are designed for kids who prefer to learn computer science and coding from home. We focus on quality continued learning and have developed a unique learning pathway: Beginners > Intermediate > Advanced > Pro. Online Coding Classes are taught by CODE4FUN instructors who are professional programmers or computer science students. Our instructors follow the COOE4FUN curriculum that is designed to continually progress the knowledge and skills of our students and spans a four-year period. Each stage is one year long and consists of four levels of student progression.
Online coding classes run every week across the school term period at a scheduled time where students join a LIVE interactive session. In order to join CODE4FUN online coding class you will need a computer / laptop with a stable Internet connection.
Upon your registration, you will receive a User Guide with step-by-step instructions on how to join and prepare your child for the session. We ask that you help your child, especially Beginners students, to join their first online coding class and get ready for their session.
Each online class is a live and interactive video conferencing session. Your child will be able to communicate with CODE4FUN instructor, ask questions and receive ongoing support. Our instructors will go slowly through the content, ensuring each student is following along. Our teachers will also be able to access your child’s code remotely at any point of time during the session to fix coding bugs if need be. Students use an online programming environment, with endless access to online study materials, allowing them to advance their coding skills outside their virtual classroom.
